Took a nice leisurely cruise out around IUS and back down Charlestown and Slate Run Roads this morning, before making my way back home via Spring Street hill. It was very humid and actually very warm. Had trouble with my bicycle seat not being adjusted quite right. Switched seats and now will go through the new adjusting procedure.
Spring St. hill is open enough for riders or walkers. There was a tree that had fallen across it, but part of the tree has been removed enough accommodate a ped path.
Ride early, it will be brutal today.

I didn't leave until shortly after 9 today, and it was hot, yet there was a breeze of sorts that made it really quite pleasant. My plan was to just ride a bit through the subdivisions around here to loosen up from yesterday. I wanted to just go through the subdivisions because I can put in quite a few miles while not being far from home and since I was by myself with no one home to call if I had a problem, I like to do that sometimes. Well I went through nooks and crannies of Plum Run, Dovir Woods, Chapel Creek, Southern Estates, Cobbler's Crossing, Koehler Place and Wolf Lake, and ended up doing 20.5 miles! All within the quiet roads of subdivisions. Who says suburban sprawl is a bad thing? ;)
My route was Main Street to Corydon Pike, up the hill to Quarry, over to Vincennes and back down. Only 25 km, but a sturdy 25 km.
Presently I'll go back out for part two, anticipated to be a leisurely jaunt through the city and riverfront.
Thanks to all for contributing postings and comments to the blog this weekend, it can only get better.
I am going to annouce a ride later in the week for Saturday or Sunday morning. Try to reply and or attend.

We all must have just missed each other. I left about 7:45, went through IUS, on out close to Debbie's area. Rode in the Chapel Creek sub, County Line Road, Bugaboo(?) and then circled back through Community Park to home.
Ed, don't think that I am in good enough shape to ride with you yet. Working on it.
Ed,
Just read your post about going to Utica. How are you going to Clarksville from NA? I have always enjoyed riding out to Utica. If memory serves, it is about a 40 mile turn from my house, Green Valley & Mt. Tabor area. Do you go on past Utica to the old Army grounds and where the road to Quarry Bluffs now is?
1:45 minutes? I know I am not in shape to ride with you!!
I have been doing the newer Hwy 62 bridge over Silver Creek as well as Blackiston Mill.
Thanks. I have taken 62 a couple years ago. At least it has a shoulder and 4 lanes(if motor vehicles will use the left). Blackiston Mill I think would be a terror except very early in the morning, which I also like to do.
